Death

After realizing his defeat and that there was no way he would be able to fight the Nine-Tailed-Fox-Demon (Naruto), Haku kindly asks for him to take his life. Naruto is shocked by such a request and asks why he has to die. Haku explains to him that he could no longer be of any help to Zabuza, not being strong enough to be that man's ultimate weapon and tool.
Seeing no way out of it, Naruto prepares to attack Haku.
Just as Naruto's junai is about to slice through his body, Haku instantly stops the attack and says "I can't die yet". He disappears and leaves Naruto surprised and wondering where his opponent disappeared to.
On the other side of the bridge, the Kakashi vs Zabuza battle is going on. After restricting his opponent's movement using his Nin-Dogs, Kakashi prepares for his final attack. As Kakashi is about to hit Zabuza with this one last technique, Haku jumps in the way and shield's Zaubuza from the attack, but as a consequence, he dies.

Haku's motionless body lays lying on the floor and beside him is the man he loves more then anyone else. His precious person. Suddenly it begins to snow out of nowhere and tears fill Haku's forever closed eyes.
In the end, two crosses are standing high on a cliff. One is of the Devil of the Hidden Mist, and the other is of the young boy who was as pure as snow itself.

Haku dies protecting the person who was the most precious person to him (although seemingly in vein because soon after Zabuza dies after him). Though it was a very saddening moment, everyone around him, people he has met, will forever remember him. He also changed the way many of the characters in the story veiwed ninjas to be and made then work to being a ninja in their own special and unique way.
Before his death, his kind and gentle spirit was able to touch the hearts of many, and give strength to many more. In death, he is still remembered in the hearts of many and will never be forgotten.
